Lana’s refreshing and surprisingly practical insights are written in a way that takes away the daunting aspect of so many self-help books. It puts the power to change in this fast moving world right back in our hands, with tips that can be implemented straight away. I found it extremely helpful and thought-provoking.

The guide to life I didn’t know I needed. This book is a refreshing read in times where our lives are busier and busier. The examples were incredibly relatable, and the lessons valuable – we can all benefit from slowing down.

The Slow Life Project instantly appealed to me. As a chronically busy person, a slow life seems both desirable and unattainable. So, I am grateful that I received this book at a time that I had just enough of a lull to start reading it, and once I started reading it was something I wanted to make time for.

The way that the book is structured makes it easy to work though a little at a time. The exercises are not overwhelmingly complex but build on one another in a way that helped me to understand what it was that made me gravitate toward the idea of a slow life and to develop my ‘slow life map’ based on my own values and intrinsic needs.

In my work, I spend much of my time helping organisations to navigate change and firmly believe that successful change comes from each individual understanding not only what is changing, how it affects them and what they need to do, but WHY they need to change. The Slow Life Project gives more than just the tools of how to change, it helped me discover my ‘why’, and that is why along with my slow life map and Lana’s guidance on how to navigate a purposefully slower life using it give me confidence in developing my own pathway to ‘living a life with more meaning, authenticity and joy’.

The Slow Life Project should be required reading for anyone who craves a more meaningful, intentional life.

I found The Slow Life Project a very ‘easy’ read and is broken down into bite size chapters which makes it a book you can dip in and out of to support you when those inevitable thoughts and feelings disrupt your plan. I particularly enjoyed the exercises in Finding Your Values although it was challenging to narrow my key values down to just five.

The strategies and goal setting was particularly relevant to my work as a Diabetes Nurse Educator where many of my clients struggle to be able make the necessary changes in their lives to improve their health outcomes. These clients often really WANT to make changes but don’t process the skills to set themselves achievable goals resulting in some poor decisions and often “giving up”. The chapter on resilience gives some very sound strategies.

I think this book will suit anyone, regardless of age or what stage in your life you sit. I am soon to enter a new stage of my life with retirement and the book has helped me to clarify my true values and how they will guide me along my journey.

Absolutely full to bursting with insightful information and a multitude of tools and exercises, this really is an in depth journey of discovery that gets to the very core of your being. There is such a variety of relatable examples covering many circumstances so there was always something relevant to me.

Lana has done a wonderful job of explaining, as is her usual way in a session, and it is good to see this has not been lost in print. I found being able to self pace and work through in my own time really helpful. I can reach for the book whenever I have the time and head space to get the best value and results. Plus, I have it forever.

Whether this is a first step, the beginning of a journey, or maybe a time to refocus and recentre, there is definitely something for everyone. The Slow Life Project provides a chance for anyone to find value and meaning in their everyday lives. If you are time poor, on a budget, or just nervous to take that first step I would absolutely recommend giving this a crack. Move over Google, all you need is a Slow Life Map to navigate through this weird and wonderful life. Five stars!
